Recheck and resubmission

Recheck an assignment

  1. Open the assignment's Reports and logs link, or open a ScholarScan report and select View all ScholarScan reports and logs.
  2. Review the listed mappings.
  3. Select Recheck ScholarScan assignment.

The recheck queues a fresh scan for supported submitted files in the assignment. It can replace the latest displayed result after processing and Moodle synchronization.

Avoid repeated rechecks while jobs are already queued. They consume processing capacity and may make it harder to identify the relevant submission version.

Automatic retry

Failed scans are automatically retried according to the tenant's ScholarScan housekeeping policy. The portal records the attempt count and latest failure. During this period, the received file is retained so another attempt can use it.

Needs resubmission

When the tenant's maximum attempt count is reached, the portal marks the item Needs resubmission. The student must upload a fresh copy, or the lecturer must reopen the Moodle submission when editing is locked.

Recommended steps:

  1. Check that the original file opens locally.
  2. Ask the student to export a fresh PDF or DOCX rather than renaming a damaged file.
  3. Reopen the Moodle submission if necessary.
  4. Have the student replace and save the file.
  5. Submit again or run one controlled recheck.

A forced Moodle recheck uploads the current file again, resets the attempt count, and starts a new processing lifecycle.

After a replacement

Confirm the new filename, submission timestamp, and latest report. Keep the earlier log only for authorized academic or technical review.
